Song For Taking Pulse (Heart Beat-Box Remix)
Working with curators from the National Museum of Singapore, we created a digital exhibition about the history of public health in Singapore entitled ‘Every Body Plays A Part’.
Then, we made some fun social content to drive people to visit it. Including this music video which puts a modern spin on one of the exhibition’s key artefacts, a rhyme about Chinese pulse-taking.
-
Written by a Chinese physician in the 1940s, the 'Song For Taking Pulse' explains why our heartbeat can tell us a lot about our bodies and is crucial to understanding the root of an illness.
We translated the original document from classical Chinese to simplified Chinese, and partnered beatboxer Dharni to turn all that dope knowledge into the world’s first heart beat-box remix (vocals and all instruments performed entirely by his mouth).
One TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) brand loved it so much that they actually hired Dharni to beatbox for them as well!
